We take our job very seriously, however, we also like to have some fun when it is appropriate. Here is a story that appeared in the Altmonte Springs Blog through the Orlando Sentinel:
On Saturday, we joined Joe with Downtown Horse and Carriage, at a wedding he was providing horse drawn carriage services for. Afterward, we decided to relax with some refreshments from Steak 'N Shake at Uptown Altamonte on State Road 436. We also decided to trot up there in the horse drawn carriage.
Our journey started at Embassy Suites
and took us through the various roads
and parking lots until we reached our
destination. The white carriage, still
adorned with wedding flowers, was
drawn by two percheron horses,
Penny and Trixie. My wife and
I relaxed on the burgundy velvet
seats while Joey led the team wearing
his top hat and tuxedo. Needless to say,
several peering eyes joined us on this
epic munchie run.
We pulled up to the drive-thru window as anyone else would. It just so happens we chose a rather unusual means of transportation. The windows of the restaurant began to fill with patrons flocking to witness this somewhat unique sight.
Joe ordered one strawberry and two chocolate shakes. We were then instructed to pull around to the
next window while the drive thru attendant
conspiculously didn't bother to ask us any
further questions. As we took the turn in
front of the restaurant, I couldn't remember
ever seeing so many phone cameras unholstered
and pointed in one direction before.
On our way back to our starting point, milk shakes
in hand, we noticed a young woman pushing
a shopping cart in front of Marshalls had stopped
in her tracks in amazement. Joey explained we
were thirsty for shakes and she commented,
"Well, that makes sense."
I have to say, this was a most memorable experience. We try to keep busy on weekends and are constantly striving to find new and unique things to try. I think, with help from Downtown Horse and Carriage, we succeeded today. No matter what we come up with for tomorrow, I doubt it will be as interesting and fun as this Carriage 'N Shake run.
